About
Surprise! I’m back—sooner than expected.
You might be wondering why, after just closing Ilana Kohn, I’d turn around and launch something new. The truth is, I never really wanted to close IK. But sometimes the universe decides for you. Stepping away brought relief, sure—but also a gnawing itch to create again. The same one that had me sketching and sewing at my kitchen table 15 years ago, when this whole adventure first began.
That’s the spirit I’m returning to with Samet (pronounced SAM-eht). It’s not just a new name—it’s a reset. Back to basics. One woman, one table, big ideas. No team, no overhead, no infrastructure—just me, doing what I love with freedom, joy, and a whole lot of heart.
Samet is a distilled version of everything I cherished about IK: bold prints, meaningful collaborations, beautiful photography, and working closely with small domestic manufacturers. It’s more intimate, more agile, and fits my life now in a way the old structure simply couldn’t.
So, what’s this going to look like? Honestly, I’m figuring it out as I go—and bringing you along for the ride. We’re kicking things off with a small summer launch: just a little love note to set the tone. I had to bring back the Indigo Flower Dots in a new colorway—one of my all-time faves, revived for entirely selfish (and totally worth it) reasons.
Is it a little wild to dive into something new so soon? Maybe. Slightly masochistic? Perhaps. But it feels right. I’m back where I started—at the kitchen table—with a lighter load, a clearer mind, and a ton of excitement.
The most common question I got when closing IK was: What’s next?
What does a designer do after stepping away from a namesake brand they spent 15 years building?
I guess we’re about to find out—together.
I hope you love what’s coming.
